Joy has been teaching gymnastics, fitness and music to children for over 25 years, and came to Gold Star in the summer of 2005. She has coached gymnastics at the YMCA and in several private clubs, is a music teacher, and for ten years taught Physical Education at local elementary schools. Joy earned an A.A. in Early Childhood Education from Canada College, and a B.A. in Creative Arts from San Jose State University, She is CPR and First Aid Certified, and has her USA Gymnastics Safety Certification and Kinder Accreditation Training. As a high school gymnast Joy competed in Class I (the level just below elite where our Olympic gymnasts compete), and went on to become a member of the UC Davis gymnastics team. Added to all of these talents, Joy is also a professional musician who has released vocal and flute CD’s. We are extremely lucky to have a woman of her expertise and enthusiasm, share her extremely busy schedule with our preschool and recreational gymnastics programs. She comes to us five days a week, and is an invaluable member of our staff. Most importantly her students find her just as exceptional as we do!
