Pam is the owner of Gold Star Gymnastics. She began
gymnastics classes at Gym West (formerly located in Palo Alto) when
she was 6, progressing through to optional levels of competition. She
began coaching gymnastics in high school, and replaced beam work-outs
with dance classes. Since this time Pam has coached across the country
taking on a different facet of the sport in each gym. Her jobs have
included: Preschool Director, Camp Director, Office Manager, Gym Annex
Manager, Girls Optional Choreographer, Level 5-9 Head Girls Coach, Boys
Class 6-7 Head Coach (winning the Texas State Championship for Class
7 Boys 8-9 year olds in 1997). She even taught summer gymnastics camps
at Gold Star in 1997. Pam has her U.S.A. Gymnastics Safety Certification,
C.P.R and First Aid Certifications, and has completed her Kinder Accreditation
Training for preschool gymnastics. She has a B.A. in Psychology from
Carleton College in Minnesota, her Masters of Fine Arts in Dance from
U.C. Irvine (her thesis involved implementing a dance and gymnastics
program for children with Down's Syndrome), and a Ph.D. in Dance from
Texas Woman's University. Her dissertation research took her into the
public schools where she taught dance at McKinley Middle School in Redwood
City for two years and at Sequoia High School for two years. She now
balances owning and managing Gold Star with her husband and two young
children (both budding gymnasts!).
