Paula started coaching gymnastics in 2000 in San Diego and began at Gold Star in the fall of 2005. She became one of our Floor Managers in the fall of 2006. Paula has worked extensively through all levels of gymnastics, from parent-tot through Level 6 team, including being head coach of a high school multi-level gymnastics team. Paula was a gymnast herself and competed through Level 7, training Level 8. In junior high school she switched from gymnastics to track and field – ultimately becoming the NCAA champion in pole vaulting in 1999. Paula earned her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where she both trained and coached track and field. She is the favorite aunt of her seven nieces and nephews, and is expecting her own bundle of joy this year. Paula fit in perfectly at Gold Star with her cheerful demeanor and her breadth of knowledge – we immediately had her coaching MiniStars through competitive levels. She has a quiet pleasant manner around children which puts them at ease. Her expertise guides them to achieve their potential, and her encouragement ensures that they will forever love the sport.
