Pam is the owner of Gold Star Gymnastics. She began gymnastics classes at Gym West (formerly located in Palo Alto) when she was 6, progressing through to optional levels of competition. She began coaching gymnastics in high school, and replaced beam work-outs with dance classes. Since this time Pam has coached across the country taking on a different facet of the sport in each gym. Owen Heery |
Owen is our Head Coach. He comes to us with over 20 years of experience including 10 years as a high level competitive coach. He was born in Ireland, and grew up training with his brothers. His brothers retired as internationally ranked gymnasts, while Owen found his talent for coaching quite young. Owen came to Gold Star in 2002 with his Safety Certification, C.P.R. and First Aid Certifications. [...] |

C.C. is our Program Director and Head All-Star Cheer Coach. She has been at Gold Star since the day the doors opened. She knows everything and anything about the gym. Chris Daffron |
Chris began coaching in 1998 in Texas, and came to Gold Star in 2004. Chris started teaching preschool through compulsory levels for both boys and girls teams, plus cheer. When he left Texas he was running a gym, not only coaching but billing, scheduling, staffing, managing, even maintaining the facilities. He has his U.S.A. Gymnastics Safety Certification, First Aid and CPR certifications. [...] |

Elaine is our Office Manager and has been the public face of Gold Star every weekday morning since 2001. She is C.P.R. and First Aid certified. She alone is in charge of maintaining our waiting lists, as so many of you have come to know her through your voicemail. A.J. |
A.J. began coaching at Gold Star in the spring of 2008, but he has been a member of the Gold Star family for years. In 2006, A.J. joined our hip hop team and contributed to the squad qualifying to Nationals for the past three years. He has so much enthusiasm for hip hop that he started a hip hop club at his high school. He is currently enrolled at DeAnza, where he continues to dance, and has his U.S.A. Aleks joined the staff at Gold Star in the fall of 2010. She currently balances community college and coaching. Aleks was a dancer for the past five years, and has quickly been adopted by our Rhythmic program. She has received her U.S.A. Alycia started coaching at Gold Star in the fall of 2009, after becoming a member of the GSG Senior All-Star Cheer Team. She started taking gymnastics classes when she was a toddler and continued through elementary school. She began cheerleading in 6th grade and has won numerous awards for both team competitions and stunting. Before she started coaching, Alycia taught at cheer camps and babysat her cousins. [...] |

Carolyn is assistant head coach of our All-Star Cheer Squads. Courtney coaches our Level 5-9 team, attending their competitions on the weekends, but by day she is a systems design engineer. She has been coaching since high school, working her way through Stanford by assisting the Stanford Team, and has been with Gold Star since 2000. She began her career as an elementary school teacher, and then moved on to sports and fitness. Natasha joined Gold Star in 2009 after coaching in the Bay Area for the past decade – teaching all levels of gymnastics, working as a receptionist and helping with the billing for a neighboring club. Natasha is an internationally acclaimed gymnast (competing under the name Natalia Kalinina). She was born in the Ukraine, starting gymnastics at the tender age of six. Natasha is a former member of the all but undefeatable Soviet team from 1989 to 1992, becoming a part of the Ukraine team from 1992 to 1995. [...] |

Paul came to Gold Star in the spring of 2006 after an illustrious career in competitive gymnastics. He began taking classes when he was in elementary school in Ireland and proceeded to compete internationally on the Irish Junior National Team, ultimately becoming All-Around Champion for the Senior National Team in 1985. Phil has been working at Gold Star since 1997. In this time he has taught all levels from preschool through competitive boys and girls teams. Sabrina is an irreplaceable part of our school-age and MiniStar gymnastics programs. Sabrina started her coaching career at Gold Star in 2000, and we have watched her grow into a highly competent and dedicated coach. In 2003, she began to train our PreTeam students, polishing and pushing them towards competition, and in 2005 started working with our Level 4 team. Weini has been working for Gold Star since 2001. She was originally hired as a receptionist, and is now one of our head administrative assistants assisting with billing, and in 2004 became our Camp Director. At times Weini is called on to the gymnastics floor to help when the coaches need an extra hand. She has the patience, care and love of children that comes from being a big sister. | Yousef came to Gold Star in the winter of 2010. He began
teaching gymnastics in 2006 at one of our neighboring clubs and
continues to teach in both facilities. He is CPR and First Aid
certified. Originally brought on staff to help with the boys competitive
program, Yousef proved immediately to be an extremely versatile
coach. He is currently teaching in our recreational boys and girls
gymnastics program, our adult classes, preschoolers, and our boys

Zoe began working at Gold Star in the winter of 2011. She comes to us from the MidWest with a wonderful teaching base. She was a Level 9 gymnast – just two levels before the Olympic team, and a State Champion during one of her compulsory seasons. Along with being a gymnast, she also rode horses, competing in jumping and performing at rodeos. She is CPR and First Aid certified, and currently in college majoring in Environmental Studies. [...] |
